Why Maudlin Marine?

At Maudlin Marine Surveying, we believe your boat should be surveyed from top to bottom, stem to stern, keel to mast head. We inspect it all. We pride ourselves in being the only surveyors who climb masts’ and do our own rig inspections. We inspect every bilge, compartment, and locker, fully expecting to get dirty doing it. By choosing Maudlin Marine, we ensure you will receive the most comprehensive and in depth survey possible.

                                          What is a Marine Survey?

Surveys are conducted to give you, your financial institution or you insurance company a better understanding of the general condition of your vessel. Surveys encompass all the systems on your boat from the hull, running gear, mechanical, electrical, rigging all the way down to checking bilge pump's and light bulbs for proper operation. When the physical survey is over with you will receive a full report of all findings and recommendations as well as a Value based on our findings.

                                                Types Of Surveys

Pre Purchase Survey                                                      A pre purchase survey is the most comprehensive type of inspection, and is strongly advised when purchasing a new or used vessel and is required in most cases by your financial institution. Condition and the overall operation of the vessel are examined.  This includes such items as structural integrity, out of water inspection, sea trial, electrical systems, propulsion system, fuel system, machinery, navigation, misc. On-board systems, cosmetic appearance, electronics, and overall maintenance and outfitting of the vessel. For sailing vessels this will also include a full rig, sail and rigging inspection.

                                                Insurance Survey

This inspection is performed for your insurance company to determine whether or not the vessel is an acceptable risk.  They are interested in structural integrity and safety for its intended use.  Most insurance companies require a survey on older boats.  They will also want to know the vessel's fair market value and replacement value.

                                         Damage Inspection Survey

Damage surveys are performed to assess the extent of damage to a vessel as well as recommend repairs, estimate repair cost, and determine the probable cause of the damage if it is unknown.
